Fifteen dedicated volunteers gathered early in the morning to participate in a community clean-up drive organized under Project KASIKAS at Purok 3, Barangay Saraet, Himamaylan City, on March 7, 2026.. The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage residents to actively take part in protecting and preserving their surroundings.
The clean-up drive officially started at 6:30 AM with a short orientation emphasizing the importance of safety, proper waste disposal, and the impact of waste on climate change.
The orientation was led by Project KASIKAS Program Coordinator John Bel Eseller, who reminded the volunteers about the value of teamwork and cooperation throughout the clean-up effort.
After the orientation, the volunteers began cleaning different areas of Purok 3, collecting various waste materials and helping improve the overall cleanliness of the community. Their collective effort demonstrated the power of volunteerism and the importance of shared responsibility in maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment.
For many participants, the activity was not only about cleaning the surroundings but also about learning and personal growth. One of the volunteers, Kenneth Gimena, shared his reflection about the experience:
“Being part of the Project KASIKAS clean-up drive inspired me to become more environmentally conscious. It encouraged me to continue supporting activities that help protect nature and to motivate others to do the same. This experience will always remind me that when people come together for a good cause, positive change is possible”, Kenneth Gimena said.
The success of the clean-up drive highlighted the strong commitment of the volunteers and the community toward environmental stewardship. Through initiatives like Project KASIKAS, residents of Barangay Saraet continue to work together in building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable community.
