KABANKALAN CITY, Negros Occidental – The Hope Builders Organization Negros Island Inc. (HBONI) actively participated in Oplan Tanum 2026 on June 17, 2026, as part of the 26th Environmental Week Celebration of Kabankalan City organized by the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.
The tree-planting activity gathered employees from various city government agencies, associations, partner organizations, and stakeholders at the New Sanitary Landfill in Barangay Salong. Together, participants successfully planted a total of 2,000 native tree seedlings, contributing to the city’s reforestation and long-term environmental protection efforts.
The seedlings planted included 253 Lamio, 377 Kalumpit, 600 Katilma, 400 Liputing Gubat, and 370 Mabulo seedlings. These native species were carefully selected to support biodiversity, strengthen local ecosystems, and promote sustainable environmental management.
The initiative was spearheaded by the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) headed by EnP Susana M. Casalem, in coordination with the Kabankalan Environment and Natural Resources Office (KENRO) led by Engr. Glicerio Cabatac Jr.
Beyond its participation in the tree-planting activity, HBONI also extended its support by assisting in the facilitation of the 26th Environmental Quiz Bee and Digital Storytelling Video Documentary Contest held at the SP Session Hall. The competitions brought together participants from various schools, organizations, associations, and partner institutions, providing a platform for learners and community members to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and advocacy for environmental stewardship.
Through its active involvement in Oplan Tanum 2026 and the Environmental Week activities, HBONI continues to champion initiatives that promote environmental awareness, volunteerism, and collective action toward building greener and more sustainable communities for present and future generations.
